About

David Theidel is a physicist working in quantum optics.

Since March 2026 he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Collège de France in Paris. As a member of the JEIP Quantum Photonics team of Alexei Ourjoumtsev, he works on Rydberg-assisted quantum engineering of light.

He completed his PhD at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris in 2025. His thesis, carried out at the Laboratoire d’Optique Appliquée of the École polytechnique, concerned the quantum optical properties of high-harmonic generation in semiconductors.

Before moving to Paris he studied physics at Leibniz University Hannover.

His interests include ultrafast optics, non-classical states of light, photon statistics, and collective light–matter interaction.
